Subaru is showing off some it's new concepts as well as some compact EV's. The R1e & Stella are now in their second generation and are on the show floor in Geneva.
Through the experience used in developing these two EV's Subaru has increased its expertise in this new segment. Expect these two cars to be marketed in Europe and future markets in the future.
Subaru is also the first manufacturer to release a Diesel Boxer engine. This engine has yet to make a debut in any vehicle in North America, in Europe however it has been on the market for 2 years. They have made strides in improving its emission controls and efficiency. The 3rd generation of this Diesel Boxer is set to be released this year.
Subaru has also updated a new Impreza into the lineup dubbed the Impreza XV. It seems to be a crossover variant and will of course have AWD. It's unclear at this point what differentiates this new XV model from the regular Impreza other than fender flares and a roof rack. Odds are it has the same 2.5L Boxer that is in the rest of the lineup.
The most interesting car shown is the Hybrid Sport Tourer Concept. It slots in as a GT estate. Interestingly it has an advanced Direct Injection Boxer engine with a turbo. This should put out upwards of 300hp and get superb gas mileage. Subaru's first hybrid car, not necessarily this one, is due to be released in 2012.
