Ford's battery boys have been busy. Ford has just announced that will release five EV's and hybrid cars in Europe by 2013.
Ford's Transit Connect EV will debut in 2011 followed up by a Focus EV in 2012. Two-Hybrid and one plug-in Hybrid cars will hit the road in 2013.
"Our goal is to provide consumers with access to significant fuel economy improvements and reduced CO2 emissions to meet their functional needs and without compromising their driving experience," said John Fleming, Chairman and CEO, Ford Europe.
The Focus EV will be based on the new Global Focus and be available in 2011 in Canada and USA. No word on horse power numbers or how the batteries will affect the weight of these new species of cars.
Ford is actively trying to extend the ranges of all it's vehicles. With its DI engines, turbo charging, 6-speed powershift transmissions it looks well positioned to do so.
