Fiat 500 EV coming in 2012

Not to be left out of the EV race, Chrysler and Fiat have announced they intend to have a Fiat 500EV super mini available for the North American market by 2012.  Initial pricing will be announced closer to its arrival.  

The 500EV will have a more advanced battery block than current hybrids on the market as they have chosen to use Lithium Ion batteries as opposed to NiMH.  Fiat did not divulge any range estimates or if the interior of the 500 will be compromised due to the size of a large battery pack.

The ICE Fiat 500 is planned to start production in Mexico in 2010 and be on sale in the latter half of the year.
