JDM Manufacturers create CHAdeMO Association

Japanese Manufacturers, Mitsubishi, Toyota, Nissan, Subaru (Fuji Heavy Ind) and THE TOKYO ELECTRIC POWER CO announced today the formation of the CHAdeMO Association.  The clever Japanese came up with the odd abbreviation which actually means, "charge for moving", which is also a pun in Japanese for "having tea while charging", or something to that effect.

While that doesn't really tell you much, they're real meaning for this union is to provide the world with a Quick-Charge and standardization of charging methods for EV's worldwide.  The 5 companies above hold executive positions in the association and they expect others to join the coalition.

Other Auto Manufacturers, Utility Companies, Charger Manufacturers, Charging Service Providers and other supporting groups are hoped to join.  The end game for this is an attempt to curb CO2 emissions in the transport sector by standardizing the methods for charging EV's.  Promotion of EV's as an alternative to IC engines will be encouraged by the group.
