2012 Scion iQ - Build yours today!

The 2012 Scion iQ micro car has been fully revealed on the Scion website. The Smart fighter comes loaded with a 3+1 layout that will comfortably hold 3 normal sized adults (non jumbo-size Americans) and the seat behind is strictly a small child or backpack affair.

Also available are Bluetooth connectivity and HD radio. The iQ comes packed with a 1.3L 4-Cylinder engine rated at a whopping 94HP and 89 lb-ft of torque. Sending all that power to the front wheels may seem like a mistake, but the iQ handles it well. It is quite an efficient unit with city ratings of 36 and 37 highway. The transmission is a hands off affair and is handled by a CVT unit. A manual is available in Europe so let's hope someday it makes the long swim over the Atlantic someday.

You'll be greeted with a MacPherson strut setup up front while a torsion beam sits comfortably in back. Steering is handled via an electronic unit and should make for some very light steering with hopefully some feel. The iQ is a feather weight at only 2127 lbs, meaning it should change direction and brake very effectively.

ABS comes standard along with other features such as A/C, keyless entry, 11 standard airbags, power windows and locks, auxiliary audio and USB input ports, LED turn indicators in the mirrors and projector beam headlamps.

The iQ will go on sale on the west coast of the U.S. before it's rolled out across to the others.
