Canadian Car News

Scion has been around in the U.S. for years, but in September of this year larger urban Canadian cities will get Toyota's small brand.  Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal will get the first crack at driving a Scion this year.

Compact Motoring has learned from James Calero, Internet Sales Manager with Toyota, that a large Toyota Dealership is being built in Calgary that will also host the new Scion brand.  Were told it will indeed be the 2nd largest Toyota Dealership in all of Canada and we assume it will host 4 of the new models including the: Tc, xB, xD and likely a version of the Toyota iQ micro-car.

The iQ will be shown this year in New York in Scion form.  The Tc is also ready for a redesign so that may also be shown.

In other news, inquiring with Didier Marsaud, Senior Manager of Corporate Communications of Nissan Canada we were able to get some information on a future release of the Leaf EV car; it will indeed be making a Canadian debut, and it will be for sale in the latter half of 2011.  It's unclear which cities will be included in the roll-out, but it would be likely that Vancouver and other large urban centre's willing to install charging infrastructure that will be chosen initially.  While it also may include sales to the public, it may be just to select Nissan customers.

Compact Motoring will be attending the New York Auto Show this year.  So keep your eyes peeled for exciting news in early April.
